One of the most dangerous instances players encounter in Northern Arun, the Ravenous Gorge is the hidden domain of savage beasts, where even the bravest warriors of the native Khirians fear to go. In this jungle-shrouded grotto, nature has gone berserk, influenced perhaps by the blood magic of the archdevas. The Ravenous Gorge pits the Vanguard Initiative’s best against challenging yet familiar boss BAMs…culminating in a battle with the great bird Nimistrix, who launches attacks from the skies and can summon devastating windstorms.

Level Requirement: 65
Item Level: 174
Format: 3-man (Using IMS may end up with 3 DPS)

Drops:

  • Accessories: Forest/Fire/River Song Necklace, Forest/Fire/River Beat Ring/Earring (Aggro/DPS/Healing)
  • VM4 (Generation) Materials: Blacksmith’s Ember and Nimistrix’s Plume.
  • Other: Enigmatic Chest, Crystal Box, Cosmoshard, T6 Feedstock and Alkahest

When entering the dungeon, you are faced with 3 monkeys, kill them and this starts off the first boss battle. There are 3 boss battles with no extra normal monsters. There is a goddess buff, (similar to the one in Rift’s Edge Normal Mode) which buffs the party members, gives continual HP and MP regen and a free resurrection to fallen members, the applies after awhile during fights.

A new mechanic which is featured for the first 2 bosses is the spawning of 2 types of flowers. Randomly a red or blue flower will spawn, you have only a couple of seconds to DPS them, luckily they only have 1 HP. Killing a red gives you health points, and killing a blue gives you a power buff.

First boss: Ardentmaw (Baboon)

Tanking Tip: Normal tank and spank boss.

Mechanics:

Attack Patterns: Similar to the Baboon in Rift’s Edge and Balder’s Temple. Including the sphere attack which reduces movement speed by 50%

Nimistrix’s Avatar: During the fight, a partially invisible Nimistrix (Last boss, also known as the bird from Argon Corpus) will lock on to one player, noticeable by the purple aggro ring and proceed a Dive Bomb attack. Players must evade this attack, failure to do this will result in a healing debuff and damage.

Banana tree, Herbs and Lamb: Ardentmaw will move to the middle of the room, a message will pop up telling you that Ardentmaw will travel to either; Banana tree, Herbs or Lamb. You need to DPS the location that it’s running too. Success results in it being stunned for 10 seconds. Failure results in it being shielded for 10 seconds, aswell as it going berserker with slams. (Note that the location may not appear to break, you’ll know when they’re dead when you can no longer deal damage)

Sloths: Small sloths will spawn around the field. The party must pay attention to every monkey and kill the ones which talk within 20 seconds.. (There will be 3 talking sloths; have a text bubble above them). If players kill the wrong sloths (ones which do not talk), the whole party receives 10,000 damage. This mechanic has 3 consecutive phases. Failure to do so will result in 50,000 damage for every sloth not killed.

Second Boss: Forengula (Sand Lizard)

Rav_03

Tanking Tips: Try to avoid the Push Pods as it’ll be difficult for the whole party to stay on the boss.

Mechanics:

Attack patterns: Similar to Lizard in Rift’s Edge and BAMs. Includes breathe attack, tail swings and AoE attacks.

Headbutt: The Lizard will target a player (noticeable by the Purple Ring). The player must hide behind spawned rocks on the outer rim of the field. The lizard will charge and attempt to head butt the player. This occurs until he hits the rock, if the player fails to shield him/herself behind the rocks, the lizard will 1 hit you. Also, if you fail to stop the Lizard by making him hit the rock after 3 attempts, he’ll bury himself into the ground and deal damage when he appears. (Note, there has been reports that the lizard can hit through the rocks if you’re too close to the rocks, so be aware of hit boxes and stand back a bit).

Push Pods: During the fight, small plants spawn (4 in a cross pattern), they has a small radius to begin with but gradually grow to a big size. They do not deal damage, but push players out of the zones. This can become annoying when trying to DPS the boss if the boss happens to wonder into the zones. The plants can be killed, but will also respawn afterwhile.

Last Boss: Nimistrix (Bird)

For this boss, the party obtains aid through crystals (Similar to Ghiliglade and Channelworks), there are 3 crystals, a damage dealer, a healer and a tank. You can pick 2 out of the 3. The crystal that summons a sorcerer gives the party crit buffs, while the crystal that summons the priest gives the party endurance buffs. These buffs will override each other.
Tanking Tips: You may want to keep the boss away from the eggs to see the mechanics at first. Once you get used to them, it doesn’t matter as much.

Mechanics:

Attack patterns: Similar to World Boss BAM in Pathfinders and Argon Corpus (Halveterak Overseer). Including beak attack, wing attack and its famous dive bomb attack has returned.

Nimistrix Rage: You’ll be notified with a message: “Nimistrix absorbs nature’s energy”, your party has just few seconds to interrupt Nimitrix, using a stun attack, otherwise it will gain a 10 minute duration of a major power bonus. This power buff stacks and cannot be removed.

Adament Plumage: You’ll be notified with a message: “Nimistrix’s skin is empowered!”, your healer will need to cleanse this buff. This defensive buff stacks. (Note if you don’t have a healer, it is recommended you choose the healing crystal as the healer NPC is designed to plague/regress the buff)

Growing Egg: You’ll be notified with the message that “Nimistrix cries out!” One of the three eggs found in the bottom of the nest begin to grow to aid their mother, your party must destroy the egg as soon as possible, if you do not destroy the egg, three chicks will appear and attack you. You can kill the chicks, but this is a much harder task than DPSing the egg. Also, failure to destroy the egg will result in a debuff that will reduce your speed and remove HP.

Whirlwind: You’ll be notified with the message: “Nimistrix calls a storm!” This is a wipe mechanic which inflicts damage on the whole playing field, except from a few circular areas which will spawn. These are noticeable by the outline of the circle. You must stand inside to avoid being hit.

Dive Bomb: Nimistrix will lock on to one player (“Nimistrix dives [playername]!”) and proceeds a Dive Bomb attack. Players must evade this attack, failure to do this will result in a healing debuff and damage.

After 10 minutes, Nimistrix will enrage up to 3 times due to the destruction of her eggs, he will receive a damage buff which will more or less cause any attack to 1 shot a player.
